The Russian Academy of Arts, the Administration of the Tula Region and Tula Museum of Fine Arts under the support of the “Express-Tula” Bank present 200 works by the People’s Artist of the USSR and Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. On display are the artist’s recent paintings, graphic works, sculptural compositions, bronze reliefs and unique 3D enamels.

On December 13, 2011 in Tsereteli Art Gallery there was an opening of the exhibition “The Art of Sculpture: Craftsmanship and Inspiration” in honor of the 20th anniversary of the Academy Creative Workshop of Sculpture headed by Vladimir Tsigal. At the opening ceremony the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli presented the People’s Artist of the USSR, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Vladimir Tsigal with the highest award of the Russian Academy of Arts – the Gold Cross for Services to Art.

The Chelyabinsk Museum of Arts presents a major retrospective of over 150 works by the People’s Artist of Russia, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli. The opening of the “Russia – Italy – Spain: Artistic Relations” International Research Conference (XXI Alpatov Readings) in honor of Russia-Italy and Russia-Spain Cross Culture Year 2011 took place in Tsereteli Art Gallery, 19 Prechistenka street, Moscow on November 30, 2011. The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli addressed the attendees of the Conference and emphasized the significance of the Cross Culture Year 2011 in the promotion of a closer intercultural dialogue between Russia, Italy and Spain.

The exhibition in Aidan Gallery in Moscow features set designs produced by the People’s Artist of Russia and Azerbaijan, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Laureate of the USSR State Prizes Tair Salakhov for the “One Thousand and One Nights” ballet by Fikret Amirov, which first night took place in the State Kremlin Palace last year.

On November 24, 2011 the Moscow Museum of Modern Art, 25 Petrovka street presented a new selection from its collection of modern art entitled ArtisArtisArt, that refers to the “Two Hours in an Empty Tank” poem by Joseph Brodsky (1965). The President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the opening of the show. The new display follows the international museum practice of representing the museum’s collection in the form of annual changing exhibitions.

On November 21, 2011 the Mayor of Moscow Sergey Sobyanin congratulated the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill on his 65th anniversary and presented him as a gift a painting by the People’s Artist of Russia Vasily Nesterenko depicting the enthronement of the Patriarch Tikhon in the Assumption Cathedral in Moscow during the days of the Russian Revolution of 1917. This historical event took place after two centuries of Peter the Great’s abolishment of the patriarchate and establishment of the Holy Synod.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli has been honored with the International “Giuseppe Sciacca” Award for his significant contribution to the promotion of art. The award ceremony at the presence of Their Eminences the Cardinals Diego Castrillon Hoyos and Antonio Canizares Llovera, ecclesiastical, civil and military authorities took place in the Vatican City, in the Great Hall of the Pontifical Urbaniana University on November 12th, 2011.
