The Viva Academia art project of Omsk Regional M. Vrubel Museum of Fine Arts in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Arts has been highly appreciated by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli. He noted the high professional level of the art project which comprised three exhibitions: Russian Graphic Art of the 18th-20th century; Russian Prints of the Late 19th – Early 20th century; Viva Academia! Painting, Sculpture of the 19th-21th Century. They offered a groundbreaking exploration of the role of the Academy since its foundation. On show were 160 exhibits from the Omsk Regional Museum collection, many of them were presented to the public for the first time.

The 3-rd International Festival of Children’s Artworks featuring 500 paintings by young artists aged four to seventeen from eighteen countries opened in Tsereteli Art Gallery in Moscow on December 9, 2007. Among the participants were physically challenged and orphan children.

The President of the Russian Academy of Arts has been reelected a member of the Public Chamber.
The results were announced on November 25, 2007. From the second part of 42 members of the Public Chamber, twenty five of them were reelected, seventeen people became new members.

The president of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the 2nd Forum of Intellectuals From CIS Countries opened in Astana, Kazakhstan on November 12, 2007. The Forum aimed at uniting efforts in fostering humanitarian cooperation focused on problems of the young generation in post-Soviet countries.

On October 31, 2007 there was a presentation of eight portraits of the most distinguished figures of Catherine the Great’s time by the People’s Artist of Russia, Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Vasili Nesterenko in the Tsaritsyno Museum in Moscow. The centerpiece is the painting “Triumph of Catherine”.

The bronze equestrian statue of Oleg of Ryazan sculptured by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli was dedicated in Ryazan on October 28, 2007 within the framework of events in honor of the 70th anniversary of the Ryazan region. Prince Oleg of Ryazan ruled in 1351-1402 and is known for his fighting for independence of the Ryazan principality.

On October 26, 2007 Augusto Parra Munos, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile to the Russian Federation presented the President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli with the Order of Bernardo O’Higgins in the highest rank of Grand Cross The award is in recognition of the role that Zurab Tsereteli has played in fostering bilateral relations between Chile and Russia and his outstanding creative work.

The monument to the prominent Russian writer, Nobel Prize laureate Ivan Bunin was unveiled in Povarskaya street in Moscow on October 22, 2007 in honor of his 137th birth anniversary. The monument has been designed by the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, Member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts, Prof. Alexander Burganov.
