President of Russia Vladimir Putin decorated the Full Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, painter Sergei Tkachev with the Order “For Services to Motherland” 3rd rank for “his big contribution in promoting the Russian fine arts and distinguished creative work” – reports the President’s press service.

The unveiling ceremony for the monument to poet Sergei Esenin sculptured by the People’s Artist of Russia, winner of M. Sholokhov and S. Esenin prizes Anatoli Bichukov took place in the poet’s birthplace - the village of Konstantinovo, Ryazan region on October 7, 2007.

The Russian art has suffered a big loss. On the 67th year stopped the life of the People’s Artist of Russia, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, President of the Creative Union of Artists of Russia, President of the International Federation of Artists Edward Drobitski. The artist was buried in Troyekurovskoye cemetery in Moscow.

The Moscow authorities have backed up the initiative of the Russian Public Movement for Support to the Navy to create a monument to the Hero of the Soviet Union, Admiral of the Fleet Nicholai Kuznetsov. The statue will be placed in the park near the intersection of Boyarski Lane and Sadovo-Chernogryazskay street.

The unveiling ceremony for the bust of Sergio Vieira de Mello, United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (from September 2002 to August 2003) who lost his life in the bombing of UN headquarters in Iraq on August 19, 2003, was attended by the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. The monument has been designed by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and presented as a gift to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.

On September 3, 2007 the Bank of Russia will put in circulation four memorable silver coins. One of them is dedicated to the jubilee of the Russian Academy of Arts. Its face-value is three roubles. The coin is made of 925 silver alloy, the circulation – 10000 coins.

The bronze bust of the ballet dancer Natalia Dudinskaya (1912-2003) by People’s Artist of Russia and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Grigori Yastrebenetski will be dedicated on the campus of the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University of Trade Unions (15 Fuchika street) on September 1, 2007. Since 1995 Natalia Dudinskaya has been an Honorary Doctor of the above University.
