Government Prizes 2012 in Culture Have Been Awarded To Members of the Russian Academy of Arts

By the Decree of the Prime-Minister Dmitry Medvedev dated December 22, 2012 the Government Prizes 2012 in culture were awarded to the following Academicians and Corresponding Members of the Russian Academy of Arts:

- Academician Nickolai Borovsky, First Secretary of the Artists’ Union of Russia and Corresponding Member Vakhidt Umarsultanov - for the creation of the museum collection of works by Russian artists for A. Kadyrov Memorial Complex of Glory in Grozny;

- Academician Evgeny Maximov, Head of the Department for Painting and Composition of V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute - for the creation of a cycle of paintings for Russian Orthodox Churches in Moscow;

- Academician Andrey Zolotov, screenwriter for his cycle of documentary films “The Most Lofty – the Most Open”;

- Corresponding Member Mickhail Sokolov, leading researcher of the Research Institute of Theory and History of Fine Arts of the Russian Academy of Arts - for his book “The Principle of Paradise. Chapters about the Iconography of Garden, Park and Belle Vue”;

- Corresponding Member and art historian Adel Safarova - for the establishment of “Art Project” Foundation for Support to Contemporary Art.
