The Japanese Artist Tadashi Goino Presented as a Gift to the Russian Orthodox Church His Portrait of the Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexy II

On June 28, 2013 at the ceremony in the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra (Sergiev Posad, Moscow Region) the Japanese artist, Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Tadashi Goino presented as a gift to the Russian Orthodox Church his portrait of the Patriarch of Moscow and All-Russia Alexy II. Tadashi Goino is a painter, art historian, art collector, public figure and patron of art.

The portrait to be for some time on display in the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra  will be delivered to the Epiphany Cathedral at Yelokhovo (Moscow) where there is a tomb of the Patriarch Alexy II of Russia.

Prof. Tadashi Goino (b. 1950) is a founder of the General Research Institute dealing with problems of the environment protection, founder and President of Utagawa Society in Japan. Dr. Tadashi Goino has been actively involved in humanitarian activities in Russia and CIS countries. In 1995, at his meeting with the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexy II Tadashi Goino presented him as a gift his picture “Our Lady of Kazan”. He is also among major donators to the recreation of the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow.
