The Russian Artist-Conceptualist Eric Bulatov Was Presented with the Order of the Russian Academy of Arts For Services to Art

In Paris, on October 16, 2013 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli presented the Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, artist of conceptual art Eric Bulatov with the Order for Services to Art. “All wise men of the past wanted the artist not to pay attention to praises and disparagements, but when your work is appreciated and respected, it is not only pleasant, but also gives confidence in your creative forces” – said the 80 year old artist receiving the high award of the Russian Academy of Arts.

Eric Bulatov was born in 1933 in Sverdlovsk (Ekaterinburg, Russia), graduated from V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. Since 1956 he has been an active participant in numerous exhibitions in Russia and other countries (Zurich, Frankfurt, Bonn, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, London). The artist is one of the founders of the Soviet pop art – a direction in postmodernism in the 1970s. Eric Bulatov’s works are in major public and private collections in Europe, Russia and the United States.
