Unveiling of the Monument Commemorating the 100th Anniversary of WWI

On August 1, 2014  in the War Memorial on Poklonnaya Hill in Moscow there was an unveiling ceremony for a monument in memory of victims of WWI. Almost two millions of Russian soldiers and officers were killed and about four millions were wounded on the battlefields of WWI.

The authors’ group headed by the celebrated sculptor, Chairman of the Artists’ Union of Russia and Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts Andrey Kovalchuk included: sculptors E.V. Yusupov and N.N. Lyubimov, architects M.V. Korsi and S.V. Shlyenkin.
