The Russian Academy Of Arts

On November 14, at 03.00 pm at the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts (17 University Embankment, St. Petersburg) there will be a presentation of a new album-catalogue “The Department of Plaster Casts”.

The Department of Plaster Casts of the Research Museum of the Russian Academy of Arts is a rare collection of high scientific and educational value. In the space of  the Museum’s 33 halls viewers can see plaster casts of works by the eminent sculptors of the past, masterpieces of world museum collections including works by great sculptors of Old Greece and Rome, masters of Italian Renaissance and the 17th-18th century European plastic art.

For the last 50 years the Department of Plaster Casts has not undergone practically any changes and preserved the spirit of high classics. The new Album is a reprint of the catalogue issued in 1958 with minor alterations and additions uniting the results of research activity of several generations. It has been published by Palazzo publishing house under sponsorship of the “Order” Restoration and Construction Company.
