The Picture Gallery in Naberezhnye Chelny, the second largest city in the Republic of Tatarstan (Russia) presents almost one hundred works by the People’s Artist of the USSR and the Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Zurab Tsereteli.

On March 29, 2012 in Moscow there was an unveiling ceremony for the monument to the outstanding Russian cellist and conductor Mstislav Rostropovich (1927-2007) whose 85th birth anniversary is being marked in Russia this year. The monument has been placed in the Bryusov Lane not far from the maestro’s house and the Moscow Conservatoire where he worked for 26 years. The authors of the monument are the People’s Artist of Russia, Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts, sculptor Alexander Rukavishnikov and architect, Academician Igor Voznesensky.

Ten senior students of the Moscow State Academy Art Lyceum have become winners of the Grant initiated and sponsored by the distinguished Italian sculptor and artist Vincenzo Bianchi under the auspices the UNESCO International Chair for Fine Arts and Architecture of the Russian Academy of Arts.

On March 11, 2012 the People’s Artist of the USSR and Russian Federation, President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli took part in the inauguration of his solo show in the Novosibirsk State Art Museum. Before the opening ceremony he had given a master class to young artists and answered questions of the pressmen.

On February 29, 2012 in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia there was an inauguration of the exhibition featuring the life and creative work by the world renowned artist Zurab Tsereteli. On January 24, 2012 in the New Manezh Exhibition Hall (3 Georgievsky Lane, Moscow) there was an opening of a solo exhibition of the eminent theater designer, People’s Artist of Russia, Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts Mikhail Kurilko-Ryumin devoted to the 50th anniversary of his teaching activity at V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The opening ceremony was attended by the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli who presented the artist with the Academy’s high award – the Order of Peter the Great.

On January 24, 2012 the President of the Russian Academy of Arts Zurab Tsereteli and members of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Arts visited V. Surikov Moscow State Academy Art Institute. The Rector of V. Surikov Art Institute Anatoly Lyubavin and heads of its workshops showed the results of their students’ work in the first semester of 2011-2012 academic year. The joint discussion of the students’ works was aimed at the improvement of teaching programs.
